My Mother
My mother
Knew me like no other
She was always giving
Unconditional love to me
My mother
No matter how far I’d go
Even if I hurt her so
I was always her baby
My mother
Always had me covered
When I got into trouble
She gave me a talking to
My mother
She was there for me
I disappointed her frequently
But I was always still her baby
I look at all the things she created
How beautiful the world was through her gaze
I miss the many ways we related
But I’m grateful for those days
My mother
Doesn’t remember
A broken hip and strokes
have taken her away from me
my mother
like all the scenes she painted
as we’re reacquainted
we’re building a new family
I look at all the things she created
How beautiful the world was through her gaze
I miss the many ways we related
But I’m grateful for those days
and I'm still her baby...
