This Precious Love

In the morning I awaken
And think about this path we’ve taken
Is this where we wanted to be
When we were so young?

And then I pick up this ole guitar
And think how lucky you and I are
At the end of the day
They can’t take away
This precious love

            This peaceful life that we lead
            We’ve got everything
            That we need

           Means more to me than anything
           More than all the wealth
           That this world could ever bring
           This precious love

      This special place where you and I live
         Makes me want to find a way to give
And somehow repay
The blessings that came
Since we were married

We’re a fortress for each other
After all the ground we covered
Our love is as vast
As the long summer grass
